A Look at Entertainment

Legendary hip-hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa are battling Universal Music Group (UMG) in a lawsuit over the rights to their master recordings.
Salt-N-Pepa in fight against record label for music rights
The group filed the suit in May, accusing the record label of breaking federal copyright laws by refusing to return the rights to their masters after a certain amount of time.
Cheryl James (Salt) recently spoke about the situation in an interview.
“When you’re an artist, in the beginning, you sign a contract saying that the copyright will revert to you after 35 years. And we’ve done all the things legally to get our copyrights back. But they’re just refusing, so we had to sue them.”
Sandy Denton (Pepa) added, “They wanna keep it,” She said. “They wanna hold on to it, and that’s trying to fight us. So, obviously, they understand what’s the worth of that.”
The duo’s breakthrough debut, “Hot, Cool, and Vicious,” was released 39 years ago.
Brandy and Monica are reuniting, but this time they are doing it to introduce Dunkin’s new Cereal N’ Milk Latte.

The ad riffs on the R&B diva’s latest ’90s hit “The Boy Is Mine.” In “The Latte Is Mine” ad, the two singers humorously argue over who gets the latte before a cup magically appears, bringing back the chemistry of the classic duet.
The drink blends espresso with cereal-infused milk and marshmallow flavor. The ad’s timing is no accident. The spot arrives just as Brandy and Monica make their return to the spotlight together with a 27-city tour starting in October.
Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star Erica Banks was arrested recently at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport while trying to catch a flight to Houston.
‘Love & Hip Hop’ star arrested, reportedly found with stolen gun at Atlanta airport
According to reports, airport security found a gun in Banks’s Louis Vuitton bag, and after returning the serial number, it turned out the gun was reported stolen in Greenville, South Carolina. The actress and rapper was arrested and taken to Clayton County Jail on a charge of receiving stolen property. Banks was released on bail an hour after her arrest.
Banks’s attorney says she didn’t know the gun was stolen.
“When she was caught with this weapon, she had no idea it was stolen. She is not guilty of anything, and when we get to court, our goal is to get the charges dropped so it doesn’t go on her record.”
According to Fox 5, Banks hasn’t made a statement herself and is expected to appear in court soon.
If you ever think about slandering Beyoncé around Dionne Warwick, you’d better walk on by.
Beyoncé – Chapter 04 “The Denim Cowboy”
Beyoncé’s new Levi’s campaign is styled in a way that some fans think is an ode to Marilyn Monroe. The photo features Beyoncé dressed in classic denim, winged eyeliner, a red lip, and platinum blond curls.
British commentator Piers Morgan took to X and posted, “Very disappointed to see Beyoncé culturally appropriate Marlyn Monroe in her new Levi’s ad.”
Warwick posted in response, “Getting involved in women’s business again, I see.”
After posters flooded Morgan’s mentions, he followed up by claiming that he was joking and accusing what he calls the ‘woke brigade’ of not being able to take a joke.
