This Is Us actor Sterling K. Brown opened up recently about the intention behind the casting of dark-skinned actresses to play opposite him in his projects.

Behind the Scenes with Sterling K. Brown

During an interview with Refinery 29 Unbothered, Brown was asked why he makes it a point to have dark-skinned love interests. Brown shared that the decision was his trying to counteract the colorist casting practices in the industry.

“I’m aware of the sort of Eurocentric standards of beauty that tend to predominate media,” he said. “Light skin oftentimes is seen as more beautiful than dark skin, etc., and I want to be someone who shows all the beauty that is blackness. I understand the power of representation and how often Black women seem to feel unseen by Black men in particular.”

Rapper Cardi B. is being sued by a woman who says that she threw a microphone at her during a performance in Las Vegas two years ago.

Cardi B Sued After Viral Mic Toss Hits Woman Hard

The woman is accusing Cardi of assault and battery over the incident. According to various reports, the rapper allegedly asked the crowd to throw water at the victim to cool down. One fan nearby threw water at her, which seemed to upset Cardi. In response, she threw a microphone into the crowd, hitting the woman who is now suing. Police looked into the incident at the time but decided not to press charges.

Rapper GloRilla was arrested for felony drug possession charges, but she was the victim of a home invasion while she was out of town.

Rapper GloRilla arrested in Georgia

According to TMZ, GloRilla was arrested on July 22 in Forsyth County, GA, for possession of a scheduled controlled substance and possession of marijuana over one ounce. Both of those charges are considered felonies under Georgia law. She posted a $22,000 bond and was released the same day. The “Let Her Cook” rapper’s lawyers ripped the authorities.

“The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,” Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling of the Findling Law Firm, told TMZ. “Ms. Woods was out of town when her residence became a target for a group of home invaders who most likely knew she wasn’t there. What they didn’t know was that she had family staying with her who were traumatized by the violent entrance of this group, which grabbed high-value jewelry before taking off once they realized the home wasn’t vacant.”
