Fresh off of her recently released album Good Morning Gorgeous and Super Bowl LVI halftime performance, Mary J. Blige is set to executive produce a Lifetime movie inspired by one of her classic songs, “Real Love.”

The forthcoming film is described as a “coming-of-age romantic drama wherein a ‘determined’ song woman named Kenra goes off to college in upstate New York with plans to focus on her studies.

“But when she meets her film class partner Ben, she tries her hardest to keep things professional. Despite disapproving parents, financial hardship, and competition for the top spot in class, Kendra and Ben find themselves falling hard for each other and ultimately learn the meaning of real love,” according to the press release.

Featured on Blige’s debut album, What’s the 411? “Real Love” went certified gold just two months after its release.

“I wrote ‘Real Love’ based on my real-life experiences, and my fans connected to it in a deeply personal way,” Blige shared in a statement, “It’s exciting to now use this song and my music to create a new story by way of film, continuing to build on a pillar of the foundation of my production company, Blue Butterfly. My passions for acting and music now include developing diverse stories with music as the backdrop. I am grateful to Lifetime for their partnership in the story of Real Love.”

Real Love is set to be distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Rapper 50 Cent took to social media recently to express his frustration with Starz and the network’s management of his massively successful Power franchise.

The entrepreneur claims that he helped build up the network with Power and its spinoffs. 50 hopped on Instagram to announce that he is leaving Starz now that his contract is up.

In one post, he noted that Starz renewed their drama High Town for a third season while leaving the latest spinoff, Power Book IV: Force in limbo. According to XXL, 50 Cent serves as an executive producer on the series that is reportedly the highest-rated show on the network.

HBO’s Euphoria has done it again. For its Season 2 finale, the show has broken its ratings record.

According to Variety, the Season 2 finale drew 6.6 million viewers and per HBO, the show’s second season episodes “are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, the best performance for any season of an HBO series over the past 18 years, other than Game of Thrones.” Season 2’s finale nabbed five times as many viewers as Season 1’s.

Rapper Cardi B has won over $1 million in a federal libel lawsuit against entertainment gossip vlogger Tasha K. On March 1, courts found the YouTuber liable for several wrongdoings and ordered to pay Cardi B. $1.25 million in relation to the lawsuit.

According to Billboard, the sum of $1.25 million can “potentially end up higher.”

The ruling served as an end to a two-week long trial and a tumultuous lawsuit the rapper filed against the YouTuber personality in 2019. The suit stemmed from videos that Tasha K, born Latasha Kebe, posted in 2018, in which she claimed—along with other malicious things—that Cardi had been a prostitute, had STIs, cheated on her husband off set, and that the rapper’s daughter, Kulture, may have “intellectual disabilities” due to Cardi’s alleged drug use while pregnant.

The jury found Kebe liable on two counts of slander, one court of libel, and one count of invasion of privacy.
