CoThinkk was established in Asheville “to create supportive networks, accelerate systemic change, and seed new initiatives through a shared leadership model that is both alternative and complementary to traditional philanthropy.”
That goal—which translates as “teamwork and exchanging ideas and supporting new initiatives”—has been at the forefront of the group’s recognition of area leaders who embody its vision.
Beginning July 19, 2019 nominations can be submitted for CoThinkk’s fourth annual Leadership, Ally, and Next Generation Awards to recognize and celebrate leaders who are tackling complex issues in Western North Carolina. Nomination forms are available at cothinkk.org/community-leader-awards, and can be submitted between July 19 and August 2. Public, online, or text voting will open to all those interested between August 12 and 31.
This year in particular, the group is asking the WNC community at large to nominate leaders of color who are playing a critical role in changing the social ecosystem the region, in particular those working to shift the narrative of communities of color. The goal for the 2019 awards is to honor four community leaders, two community allies, and two next-generation leaders (age 21 and under).
The CoThinkk community leadership honorees will be announced October 19 at the “Shifting the Now: Shaping the Future” event, which is open to the entire community. To reserve a seat, visit bit.ly/CoThinkkAwardNight.
