Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest

April 27, 2015 from 12-4 p.m.

Learn about and taste some of the dozens of locally made cheeses, along with craft beers from Highland Brewing, wines from the expert at Fearrington Village, and much more. There’s a grilled cheese sandwich cookoff, a mozzarella stretching demo, and discussion of aging cheeses underground—in caves or cellars. Bring the kids (human) to see the kids (newborn goats) from Moore’s Pond Farm and its Ambassadors Chuck and Sarah York. There’s even a milking demonstration!

  • Doors open at 12 Noon.
  • Tickets $12 in advance, ages 13 and up; children under 12 free.
  • Tickets at the door $15.

Asheville Spring Herb Festival

The Farmers Market hosts the 26th annual Spring Herb Festival, the largest in the Southeast, with more than 60 vendors of herb plants, herbal soaps, balms, ointments and medicinals, herbal foods, and organic gardening supplies. Learn about flower pollination from the Center for Honeybee Research, visit a representative of the Herb Society of America, get your garden questions answered by expert Master Gardeners, buy carnivorous plants to keep insects away, and find your way to renewed health from several local schools of herbal treatment and healing. And of course buy your vegetable and herb starter plants for the season!

Festival opens early on Friday and Saturday and stays open late on Sunday.

  • Friday, May 1 and Saturday May 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with closeout sale from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
