Annual Kenilworth Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The program for the evening focuses on the slave history of Buncombe County. Drew Reisinger, Buncombe Co. Register of Deeds, will talk about the Buncombe Co. slave deeds, which are now available online. David Quinn, who is helping to restore the South Asheville Cemetery, will talk about the future of the cemetery.
Experience the interactive exhibit “An Unmarked Trail,” from the Center for Diversity Education at the celebration. A DJ will be spinning great tunes, and children can participate in craft projects. Community Potluck takes place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The program is from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.
The celebration takes place Monday, January 20 in the Fellowship Hall of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church, 123 Kenilworth Rd., 28803.
