A fun time was had by all when the Stephens-Lee class of 1965 came together August 15-17 from locations across the country to celebrate their 60th class reunion.

Alumni enjoyed a weekend filled with fellowship and activities which included a ‘Meet and Greet’ on Friday, a Grand Gala on Saturday night, and a class picnic on Sunday; with those alumni going to the church of their choice. All activities were held on the historic grounds of Stephens-Lee High School in the gymnasium.

After high school, many of the class of 1965 furthered their education by attending college at one of the many HBCU’s in the state of North Carolina, such as Livinstone University, Johnson C. Smith University, Winston-Salem State University, A&T State University, North Carolina (College) Central University, Barba-Scotia College, Shaw University, and Lincoln University in Illinois.

Many alumni obtained Masters and Doctoral degrees in Education, Masters in Engineering, and Masters of Business Administration. Each of these institutions played a vital role in shaping education, leadership, and culture for generations.

High school students will probably recognize some of their teachers in the photo, many who are now retired.

Officers of the Class of 1965 are: William Young, President; Sarah Williams, Vice President; Dora Dawkins, Secretary; Johnnie Fuller, Treasurer.
