Black History Month Essay Contest

Youth ages 10-19 are encouraged to write about the ways an African American invention has made life easier.

The Black History Collective of Henderson County, NC, presents a writing contest for Black History Month.

Youth ages 10-19 are encouraged to write about the ways an African American invention has made life easier. Include information abut the inventor, the date the invention was created, and how it is used in everyday life. How has the invention impacted your life? While learning about the numerous inventors, have fun and select one to write about.

Essay should be 1 to 3 pages, typed or neatly written. Send contact information for participant with essay. Winner announced February 26, 2022.

Black History Inventions Exhibit

Crystal Cauley will host a public exhibit celebrating Black Inventors. The exhibit, “Black History Inventions,” can be viewed at the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County, 1304 Ashe Street in Hendersonville. Viewing hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
