Advocating for social justice is essential to creating a more equitable world. For some, this has been a lifelong activity, but for many people, a question looms before them; “Where do I start?”

Addressing social justice can happen both from “outside” and “inside” government. The first is the traditional way we often see social action, working through a nonprofit or a volunteer organization to encourage government to change in the way we want. The latter, however, puts people “at the table,” helping to make decisions through being on a local government board or commission.

The site was created to give people in western North Carolina opportunities to participate to make government work better. Democracy works best when all participate. There is no pressure to participate; the place where and the amount that one participates is up to you.
