Job-Training Courses at A-B Tech

A-B Tech is offering a variety of workshops and classes to help job seekers, and those looking to expand their skills.

Many of these classes are offered at no-cost and several have funding opportunities for tuition.

Community Employment Services

A-B Tech has partnered with the Skills Training and Employment Program (STEP), NCWorks, and the Mountain Area Workforce Development Board to bring free community employment services to help residents attain jobs.

Services include résumé development, job search techniques, interview skills, online application assistance, and computers with internet access. ServSafe Manager Certification

Prepare for the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Manager Certification. Exam is included as part of the class. Upon completion with a passing grade, certification is valid for five years. One-day class, and no book is required. The class will be September 22 at the Goodwill Workforce Center on Patton Avenue. The cost is $106.

CNC Machining 101

During this course, you will work hands-on with actual CNC mills and lathes to learn basic automated machining. Course topics include CNC programming, set-up, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance, general machining principles, shop safety, blueprint reading, shop math, Lean Manufacturing principles, teamwork, and problem-solving. The class starts September 14.

Online Classes

The college has a wide range of convenient and highly interactive online classes through Ed2Go. Each course includes 12 comprehensive lessons, quizzes and a discussion area. A final exam tests your newly acquired knowledge at the end. Courses can be completed entirely from your home or office at any time of the day or night. Visit ed2go.com/abtech. Using SquareSpace to Build a Website for Your Business

This free class will be online from 3 to 5 p.m. on September 30 through the Small Business Center. SquareSpace is the leading content management system available today. The class will cover how to design handcrafted websites that look good on every device.
