The ARC of Buncombe County was founded more than sixty years ago by parents who wanted equal opportunity for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today the organization has evolved into the leading regional advocate for all people with I/DD as well as their family members.

Guest speaker for the occasion was David Gantt, Chairman of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, who addressed the importance for our regional community of supporting intellectually challenged and developmentally disabled youth and adults, enabling them to live a sustainable life. He also encouraged those present and the entire community to volunteer and become sponsors of the ARC of Buncombe County.
