Free Health Sciences Camp
For Males Ages 14 and 15
A-B Tech is hosting a free Health Science Boot Camp that is open to all males ages 14 and 15 from June 17-21 on the Asheville campus. The camp includes a textbook, a set of scrubs, breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Funding has been provided by a U.S. Department of Education grant.
The curriculum includes hands-on activities, career exploration, and skills training in the health care field. Students will meet for seven hours a day with a one-hour break for lunch. At the end of camp, students should be able to obtain vital signs, perform adult basic life support, and perform sterile hand washing before wearing surgical gloves. Students will visit curriculum laboratories on campus including surgical and pharmacy technology, nursing, medical assisting, dental, and veterinary medicine.
