Deadline for School Garden Grants

The Extension Master Gardener Volunteers (EMGs) have small grants available for schools in Asheville and/Buncombe County, to create Learning Gardens for students. Grant awards vary, but the average amount is $250.

School Grants Program applications will be evaluated to determine how well the applicant’s program meets the Extension Master Gardeners’ mission. Some of the selection criteria to be considered include type of program for which the funds are sought, educational goals of the program, and the number of students to benefit.

 

Learning Gardens provide hands-on educational experiences allowing
students to apply concepts in math, science, and environmental
education, even art and literature, in practical settings. Helping area
schools is one way the EMG volunteers serve the community.

application deadline is April 30, 2012. Full details and applications
