Students learn real-life money lessons.

The Money Academy offers kids aged eight to 18 opportunities to learn real-life money lessons in a safe environment where failure is encouraged because of the lessons it teaches.

“When it comes to money, parents are thinking, ‘My kids are in trouble.
How am I going to help them get out on their own? How can I teach them?
What do they need to know?’ The answer is you have to give them the
experience of money!” said Gayle Reaume, the founder and CEO of The
Money Academy.

“Experience can’t be told,” Reaume explained. “I could
sit here all day and tell you how to ride a bike, but you would get on
that bike and fall. That’s how we are going to learn about money. We
don’t ever let kids go out and experience it so they can make mistakes
while they’re small and learn from them. The Money Academy gives them
that experience, and they learn it much more because it becomes their
truth.”

The Money Academy takes financial lessons and turns them into fun learning experiences suited for each age group. For example, The Money Academy’s signature game, “Blast The Money Trap,” gives kids a chance to use money and see the firsthand consequences of their financial decisions in an entertaining way. The game allows kids to gain financial literacy experience in a small way.

“Before kids have to make big financial decisions for themselves, parents can sign kids up for The Money Academy camp so they already have real-life experience with money under their belts,” Reaume said. “Mistakes are what we learn from, but mistakes are also a lot easier to tolerate when it’s just five dollars at stake.”

The bulk of kids enrolled in The Money Academy’s summer camps are between the ages of eight and 14. The week-long day camp takes place in Asheville July 25th-29th. Nine locations across the country host camps throughout the summer, with the bulk of the camps taking place in Austin, TX.

The Money Academy, which offers summer camps and after-school clubs for kids aged eight to 18, has previously been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur.com, Austin American-Statesman, Austin Woman, and on Bankrate.com, among many other media outlets.

About The Money Academy

Gayle Reaume founded The Money Academy after noticing that children are often not equipped to manage their money powerfully, both now or when they are on their own. She wanted to teach her own child how to be financially responsible and searched futilely for resources to do so. In response to this need, Reaume used her experience as a business coach, public speaker and author to design experiential programs and resources to provide this vital and missing piece of education to our community.

The Money Academy’s clever programs offer a fun, hands-on experience with money, showing kids that financial responsibility is a learned habit that they can develop at a young age. These innovative programs are delivered in Gayle’s signature style that engages participants in a real dialogue about the value of money and their relationship to it.

The Money Academy assists people in creating more powerful financial perspectives for themselves, dramatically changing the lives of hundreds of kids who are now becoming financially responsible with a goal of a future of financial stability for everyone.

The Money Academy Camp takes place in Asheville July 25-29, 2011. For more information on The Money Academy visit www.TheMoneyAcademy.net, or contact Shifra Ahlers at (828) 231-0900, or Gayle Reaume at (512) 689-3351.
