MLK Keynote Speaker Will Meet Public at UNCA

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville & Buncombe County will host a reception for Dr. Bernard LaFayette following the 28th Annual Prayer Breakfast January 17. The breakfast at the Grove Park Inn begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10:00 a.m. The public is invited to meet Dr. LaFayette, the keynote speaker, at the Reuters Center at UNC-Asheville between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The reception will give the public an opportunity to meet Dr. LaFayette in the intimate setting of the Reuters Center.

An additional treat will be a performance, beginning at 11:15 a.m., by the renowned MIZERO Children of Rwanda. The dance and vocal group comprises more than a dozen teens who have grown up as street orphans in Rwanda, and their performance at the Reuters Center is free and open to the public.

At 2:00 p.m. that afternoon the company will perform at the White Horse in Black Mountain. It was in Black Mountain that they kicked off their American tour in December, 2007, culminating with a performance at the United Nations in New York.
