Feeding Us With Love and Hope
BeLoved Asheville’s bold fight against hunger.

BeLoved Asheville is tackling food insecurity head-on with creative, community-powered solutions like free street pantries and food cards.
Asheville’s favorite inclusive organization is redefining what it means to care for a community. BeLoved Asheville, a grassroots nonprofit, has launched a series of bold initiatives to combat food insecurity by blending compassion, culture, and accessibility into every effort.
Their Street Pantries offer 24/7 access to food, toiletries, and first aid supplies. These pantries can be found throughout Buncombe County and the surrounding areas, serving people who are houseless, transit-dependent, or simply in need of a meal. What began with just two pantries in the spring of 2020 has grown into a network of more than 15 locations, fueled by contributions from schoolchildren, families, businesses, and faith communities.
In addition to the pantries, BeLoved Asheville just introduced “EAT Cards,” a supplemental food benefit card designed to help residents weather gaps in government support. These cards offer a lifeline to those facing sudden food insecurity, ensuring that no one is left hungry due to bureaucratic indifference.
BeLoved Asheville’s approach is deeply rooted in the belief that food is not just sustenance—it’s a tool for justice, dignity, and belonging. By meeting people where they are, both physically and emotionally, they’re building a more resilient and inclusive Asheville.
