49th Annual Mountain Heritage Day
Two stages and dozens of performers!

Saturday, September 30 at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee NC.
Enjoy a day filled with good food, craft vendors, family-friendly activities, an interactive kids area, and lots of performances and demonstrations celebrating Southern Appalachian mountain culture. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
The day includes an amazing line-up of demonstrations, such as the First Bank Cherokee Stickball Competition: the Birdtown Stickball Team plays at 11 a.m.; the Big Cove Youth Stickball Team plays at 2 p.m. The Atlatl and Black Powder Rifle Demonstration takes place at 3 p.m.
The annual McNeely’s Chainsaw Competition is back! Registration begins on-site at 9 a.m. The competition begins at 10 a.m. There is a fee for each entry and contestants must be 18 years or older to participate.
Festival Activities – Enjoy the juried arts and crafts show, food vendors, and local non-profit organizations. There are over 150 vendors with thousands of unique items to choose from.
Music – Bluegrass, Acoustic, Old-Time, Roots, Country, Mountain Swing, and Gospel, just to name a few. With two stages and dozens of performers, you’ll want to dance the day away.
Kids Activities – Family fun for all ages! Take a wagon ride, learn traditional crafts, try your hand at old-time mountain skills, learn new dances and more. Be sure to stop by the Children’s Tent for great activities.
Andy Shaw Ford Classic Car Show – Visitors can stroll amongst the beautiful machines and cast votes for their favorites.
