– CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER –
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a defining moment when Americans step up each year to make our communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream.
While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change. His example is our call to action.
Hood Huggers International has partnered with Riverlink, Asheville Parks & Recreation, Asheville Creative Arts, Energy Savers Network, and the Burton Street Community Association on this day of service to facilitate engagement in community betterment projects in the Burton Street neighborhood.
On the King holiday, January 17, 2022, beginning at 1 p.m., volunteers will work on projects of need intended to support unity and sustainability within the community, including upkeep of the gardens and cleanup of trash in the neighborhood and the creek.
Join us at 47 Bryant Street in Asheville on this day for community building and connection! Food, refreshments, and good company will be provided.
