Dr. William H. Barber, president of the NC-NAACP, will return to Asheville January 25. Visit www.facebook.com/buncombecountynaacp for details.
With primary elections scheduled for March 15, it’s critically important that we put as much effort as possible into getting people out to the polls.
The Asheville-Buncombe Branch of NAACP, in collaboration with Democracy NC, will hold a special nonpartisan Get Out The Vote (GOTV) training and Voter Registration/Canvas Drive on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10 a.m.
The training will be held in the sanctuary of Hill Street Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to attend and then head out to register voters.
With the state’s new Voter ID requirement very likely to still be in place (it’s being contested in court), we must educate voters that they CAN vote. We have important local, state and national elections in 2016.
Our next president is likely to determine what the future Supreme Court will look like. Our next governor will continue policies we’ve seen enacted or head in a different direction. Locally, where policies affect us most directly, we have a number of candidates running for office.
The next monthly meeting of the Asheville-Buncombe County NAACP will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Hill Street Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. For more information, email [email protected] or call (828) 255-4453.
