On Saturday, February 13, 2016, the Asheville-Buncombe NAACP will travel to Raleigh, NC, for the 10th Annual Moral March on Raleigh in the state capital.

The bus will depart from 50 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive (at MLK Park) promptly at 5 a.m., arriving in Raleigh in time for the start of the rally at 10 a.m. The bus will return at approximately 6 p.m. Passengers should bring their own food and beverages, and are requested to bring cell phones (with chargers).

Cost is $40 per person, round trip. To purchase tickets, visit www.mountainmoralmonday.org and scroll down to the Paypal “Donate” link. Include how many tickets you want, the names of rider(s), and a cell phone contact. If you have questions, contact info@mountainmoralmonday.org.

Get Out The Vote!

The Asheville-Buncombe NAACP and Democracy NC have joined together in efforts to register voters for the “It’s Our Time, It’s Our Vote” campaign. To learn more, or to volunteer, contact the Asheville-Buncombe NAACP at 4ward2getherCall2Action@gmail.com.

The Asheville-Buncombe NAACP will also host a phone bank to get out the vote during the Early Voting period, and on Election Day. Phone banks will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville, 23 Edwin Place at Charlotte Street. Moral March to the Polls

In addition, the two organizations will hold a Moral March to the Polls on Saturday, March 5, meeting at 12 noon at 35 Woodfin St. downtown and marching to Pack Square. There will be a rally on voting rights and voter suppression in NC, followed by a march to the downtown polling location at 200 College St. (across from Pack Square).
