Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center Dedicates Gym

The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville, along with local government officials, recently dedicated the newly renovated gymnasium at the Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center in honor of long-time employee Garry Briggs.

A native of Asheville, Garry was a 1975 graduate of Asheville High School. Upon completion of his secondary education, he attended North Carolina A&T State University and Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Garry was employed by Asheville Parks and Recreation, serving as Director of the W. C. Reid Memorial Center for 27 years.

Garry was also a sponsor of Asheville Youth Football, Earning by Learning Program, and the Hershey Track Meet. Members of the community joined to celebrate the gym dedication as a way to share and honor the impact he had on the lives of many area youth and adults.
