In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, John Spitzberg will speak on “Peace and Violence, Two Perspectives into Action–MLK, Jr. and Johann Galtung” at the Sunday, January 15th meeting of the Ethical Society of Asheville. The meeting is held from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the Ray Auditorium at the YMI Cultural Center, 39 South Market Street.

Johann Galtung is a Norwegian contemporary of Dr. King, now in his 80s,
who is also known for his work for peace and non-violence. Spitzberg, a
retired special education teacher, social worker, and paramedic, works
with the homeless population in Asheville. He is president of the local
chapter of Veterans for Peace and a member and former Ethical Action
Chair of the Ethical Society of Asheville. A discussion period follows
the presentation, after which is time for informal conversation. All are
welcome.
