On January 25, the Land-of-Sky Regional Council, BioWheels RTS, and Buncombe County celebrated the dedication of the region’s second Brightfield Solar Integrated Electric Vehicle Charging Station located in front of the Council offices. Stan Cross of BioWheels RTS said the station generates 5 KWs of electricity and charges up to four vehicles at one time.

Buncombe Commission Chairman David Gantt proclaimed the “future is here
and we must support the people who are developing these innovative clean
energy technologies.”

Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy thanked BioWheels RTS for “making this
happen in Asheville and helping the city meet its carbon reduction
goals.” Joe McKinney, Reid Conway, and Sara Day Evans spoke and
recognized the NC Green Business Fund, Advanced Energy, McGill
Associates, and other contributors in this public-private partnership.

The Land-of-Sky Regional Council is one of 16 such organizations in the
state and serves the counties of Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and
Transylvania. The Council is a four-county, local government planning
and development organization in Western North Carolina.
