Leaf bags are available at Asheville’s Fire Stations on a first come, first-served basis. The city is continuing bagged leaf collection for 2012-13 in lieu of the vacuum trucks resulting in a savings of over $83,000 each year in operational costs.

To ensure your leaves are collected, please place in untied bags or a reusable container marked “leaves.” Bagged leaves are collected twice per month and should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week. Bags and containers will be left to be reused again.

For residents with Monday and Tuesday trash collection, the bagged leaves will be collected the first and third weeks of each month. For Wednesday and Thursday trash collection areas, bagged leaves will be collected the second and fourth weeks of the month.

Composting is another alternative for the loose leaves and is great for the soil in your garden.
