“I Need U2 Know” Campaign
WNCAP’s “I Need U2 Know” anti-stigma campaign has been recognized by the State Healthcare Access Research Project (SHARP) for its efforts to curtail HIV/AIDS stigma.

HIV/AIDS stigma is related to racism, homophobia, misinformation and fear. It occurs in families, educational institutions, service providers and healthcare settings. Stigma continues to be a major barrier to prevention education, testing and treatment. For more information about HIV/AIDS stigma and WNCAP’s “I Need U2 Know” campaign, please visit www.wncap.org/iknow. Synergy Story Slam, April 18
Storytelling can be an effective strategy for overcoming HIV-stigma,
which is one reason why we are pleased to announce the Synergy Story
Slam hosted by S. Fynn Crooks on Monday, April 18. The second reason is
that a portion of proceeds from the event will be given to WNCAP as a
donation. The winner of the storytelling contest, which revolves around
the theme “Stigma and Stereotypes,” will also receive a cash prize.
Please come out to listen and share stories. The event will take place
at 7:30 p.m. at The Magnetic Theater, in the heart of Asheville’s River
Arts District. Doors open at 7 p.m., at which time community members are
invited to sign up to tell a story.

Dining Out for Life
Please mark your calendar and make plans to participate in WNCAP’s
biggest fundraiser of the year — Dining Out for Life — on Thursday,
April 28. Participating restaurants will donate 20% of their proceeds
that day to WNCAP, to support HIV/AIDS prevention, education, advocacy
and case management services in WNC.

There are more than 100 participating restaurants in Asheville,
Hendersonville, Waynesville, Saluda and many other locations in the
region. Visit our website for a complete list of participating
restaurants and have a great meal (or two) with a friend (or three or
four!).
How can we help you?

As always, we invite you to contact us with questions or for more
information about any of our programs and services. We are a nonprofit
organization dedicated to providing HIV-related services to residents of
the WNC region, through supportive services for those living with
HIV/AIDS and prevention education for all.
