El Pueblo, Inc., in collaboration with the Latin American Coalition, will host the 14th Latino Issues Forum in Charlotte, NC.

“Where do we go from here?” is the theme for this year’s 14th Annual El Foro Latino, the largest gathering of Latino leaders, advocates, grassroots organizations, and youth in North Carolina.

North Carolina is home to more than 600,000 Latinos, and they are a significant and growing presence in our school systems and the workforce-at-large, participating in the broader fabric of North Carolina’s economic and social life. El Pueblo works on behalf of this diverse community.

The objectives of this conference are to:
• Strengthen Latino leadership capacity: build effective
communication approaches to our state legislators so they not only
hear, but listen to the concerns and needs of Latino communities across
the state
• Identify leadership that can work within smaller community settings
in addition to leadership that can work on more comprehensive
state-wide initiatives; seek individuals who can make a change for
Latinos in North Carolina
• Connect community leaders with the best national, state, and local resources available
• Increase civic participation across the state; share up-to-date information on issues relevant to Latino residents
• Enlighten the citizenry on positive contributions Latinos are making in North Carolina

The Latino forum will feature educational seminars, workshops,
and plenary sessions focusing on relevant topics facing North Carolina
communities today:
• Advocacy
• Community Development
• Education
• Health Program & Policy Updates
• Organizational Development
• Public Safety

This annual event also includes a Latino Youth Leadership
component and we invite our North Carolina middle school and secondary
school students to actively participate in this two-day conference
designed to assist Latino youth on reaching their unique individual
potential.

El Foro Latino 2009 will be held in Charlotte on March 13 and 14
at the Ramada Woodlawn Conference Center. We invite you to join us to
share in dialogue, interaction, and skills-building.

El Pueblo, Inc. is a non-partisan statewide nonprofit advocacy
and policy organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino community
in North Carolina.
