The 78th Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships will be held July 7-19 at the Aston Park Tennis Center, highlighted by both the Junior and Adult Tournaments.

The City Open is designated as an official 200-Point Tournament of the Southern Tennis Association, assuring Asheville a strong field with high finishers receiving additional points toward their United States Tennis Association rankings.

This year’s tournament features the Men’s and Women’s Open Division with players competing for $10,000 in prize money, as well as the Men’s 90’s Age Division led by Asheville’s Dave Carey. With a field of 6-8 players, the Men’s 90’s Age Division proves tennis is truly the sport of a lifetime.

The total cash purse of $10,000 is sponsored by the Asheville Tennis
Association, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Asheville, Charles J.
DePaolo, MD, PA and News Radio 570am WWNC.

The Junior Tournament will be July 7-9 with a modified feed-in
consolation format. The entry fee is $30 for singles and $10 per person
for doubles. The Adult Tournament will be July 11-19, highlighted by
the Men’s and Women’s Open Singles Finals on July 19.

National Tennis Rating Program divisions will be July 11-13, the
35’s-55’s and Mixed will be July 17-19, and the adult and senior
divisions (60-90) will begin on July 12 for divisions greater than 16
and July 13 for divisions less than 16. Entry fee is $40 for singles,
and $20 per person for doubles. Entry deadline is Monday, July 6 at 5
p.m.
