Affordable Homeownership Opportunities

Habitat homes are affordable and Green Built-certified.

If you’re ready to move from renter to owner, see if Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program is right for you.

Hurricane Helene exacerbated our region’s housing crisis, but Habitat for Humanity will be here for the duration, building and repairing homes in our community so more neighbors have a decent place to live. Habitat homes are affordable, Green Built-certified, and close to services, schools, and shopping. Hundreds of local families have built stability through Habitat’s homeownership program, and you could be next.

New homes are currently being built in New Heights, a West Asheville neighborhood of detached homes, townhomes, and single-level Aging in Place townhomes specifically designed for adults age 55+. If you’re ready for an affordable monthly payment and a new energy efficient home, now is the time to apply!

Wondering if you qualify? Asheville Habitat is an Equal Opportunity Housing provider that serves residents who earn between 40% and 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) and who meet other program qualifications. A Habitat mortgage is guaranteed to be affordable for the homeowner, meaning it will not consume more than 30% of the homeowner’s gross monthly income. A household of four can earn up to $74,496 and still be eligible.

Habitat homeowners are teachers’ aides, cooks, bus drivers, public servants, mechanics, social workers, CNAs, and administrative professionals.
