2025 Tax Notices Will Be Sent Out in March
The annual notices of taxable value are on their way to some Buncombe County residents & business owners.
Some property owners in Buncombe County can expect to begin receiving their notice of value for tax year 2025 for business personal property and rental personal property.
Notices will also go to real property owners whose property value has changed, including those that sustained structural damage from Tropical Storm Helene and not yet been repaired. Buildings that remain damaged or destroyed as of January 1, 2025, have been reappraised for 2025.
The Property Assessor is scheduled to begin mailing notices by March 10, 2025.
In past years, the property tax bill mailed in August served as the first notice of value. This new process is designed to provide advance notice of their assessments before tax bills are mailed. Note that these notices of value are not bills; only after the Buncombe Board of Commissioners sets the property tax rate for 2025 this June can tax bills be calculated.
Need to Appeal?
Business and property owners who disagree with their assessment should submit an appeal within thirty days of the notice date. Once the appeal period expires, the value will become final. If you agree with the new value, you do not need to do anything.
For the convenience of business owners, an appeal form is available online at buncombecounty.org/businesslisting, and may be submitted via email to [email protected], or printed out and returned by mail.
All property owners can start an appeal online at tax.buncombecounty.org. Type in your address to start an appeal, see your property record, and more.
