Dr. Mae Jemison to Speak at Leadercast–Asheville

On Friday, May 4, 2018, Avadim Technologies and the Andrews Institute for Leadership and Public Service will bring some of the world’s most influential leaders to western North Carolina for Leadercast.
The Seventh Annual Leadercast takes place at Biltmore Church in south Asheville. The day-long event will be broadcast from Atlanta.
This year’s speakers include Dr. Mae C. Jemison an American engineer, physician, and NASA astronaut who became the first woman of color in the world to go into space when she flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992.
Dr. Jemison is an icon of both the women’s rights and civil rights movement, inducted into both the National Women’s Hall of Fame (1993) and the International Space Hall of Fame (2004).
Following her six years with NASA, Dr. Jemison founded both The Jemison Group and BioSentient Corporation. A technology consulting firm, the Jemison Group, explores and develops stand-alone science and technology programs, integrating the critical impact of socio-cultural issues with revolutionary technologies.
Among the Jemison Group’s groundbreaking work is a project to use satellite technology for health care delivery in West Africa and another to use solar dish Stirling engines for electricity generation in developing countries. Currently, Dr. Jemison leads the 100 Year Starship (100YSS), a revolutionary initiative to assure the capability for human interstellar space travel to another star within the next century.
Other speakers scheduled for Leadercast–Asheville include Jen Bricker, Ian Morgan Cron, Jim Loer, Michael Hyatt, Carey Lohrenz, Catherine Hoke, and Joe Torre.
