Free Job Search Workshops in Haywood County
Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is hosting two free workshops offering attendees basic training on how to achieve a successful job search.
The first will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at the Haywood County Public Library, Canton Branch. The two-hour workshop is conducted by Goodwill’s Career Connections Center. It will focus on networking, how to utilize that network, and how to use social media to discover job leads.
“Our Career Connections Center assists with free services like résumé development, job search and online applications assistance, plus free access to computers and high speed Internet,” said Lori Mills, Career Connections Coordinator at Goodwill’s Haywood County Center.
The workshop is free, however, registration is required as class space is limited. Register beforehand at the front desk of the library or by calling (828) 648-2924. The Canton Branch of the Haywood County Public Library is located at 11 Pennsylvania Avenue, Canton, NC 28716.
On June 29, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. a job search workshop will be offered at the Waynesville Library Auditorium. The focus of this 2-hour workshop will be Internet job searching, how to create a winning résumé, and job interview skills and strategies to ensure success.

There will be literature available to provide everyone with the opportunity to learn about other free and personalized services Goodwill’s Career Connection Center offers job seekers. These services include résumé-writing assistance, skills assessment, career planning and coaching, and assistance with job placement. Goodwill can assist at any point in a person’s career path, including helping to secure employment.
