Potential workers visited the historic YMI Cultural Center for the Urban News’ first annual Career Fair, held on June 20. Potential employers managed tables in the 2nd floor Ray Auditorium where they discussed job applications, benefits of employment, information on the position and other employment opportunities and information.
Many of the businesses offered direct application and hiring while others offered information on where and how to apply for jobs.
Some of the employers
present included Progress Energy, Care Partners, Mountain Biz Works,
WLOS, MY NC 40, Client Logic, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, McDonald’s,
Eliada Homes, J. Crew, Ingles, City of Asheville, Mission Hospitals,
Grove Park Inn and Biltmore Farms.
“This is an awesome career opportunity, I wanted to make sure people I
know take advantage of it,” said Dee Williams, who decided to offer
friends a ride to the career fair.
Approximately 161 potential employees participated in the event which
was held from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. If you are seeking employment,
please contact the businesses listed here, or visit their company web
site.
