Winter in Downtown Asheville
Participate in the Holiday Parade or other Winter in Downtown initiatives.

“Winter in Downtown Asheville” will return this year beginning Saturday, November 22, 2025, according to the Asheville Downtown Association and the City of Asheville.
The season-long celebration is designed to bring the community together, support local businesses, and showcase the magic of downtown during the holiday season.
This year’s celebration will officially kick off with the Holiday Parade Nov. 22, also a collaboration between the Asheville Downtown Association and City leadership.
In addition to the parade, Winter in Downtown will feature:
- Winter Lights—sparkling displays across downtown
- Winter Window Display Contest—Downtown storefronts transformed into imaginative holiday art
- “Shop Small, Win Big”—turning every local purchase into a win for you and for Downtown Asheville’s small businesses
- Seasonal Celebrations and Events—free, festive opportunities for all to enjoy from tree lightings to pop-up markets
This year’s theme, “Toyshop Whimsy,” will inspire parade floats, window displays, and décor across the city, bringing a playful and imaginative spirit to the season.
“The City of Asheville is proud to partner with the Asheville Downtown Association on Winter in Downtown,” said Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer. “Together, we are creating vibrant traditions that bring joy, connect our community, and showcase downtown as a welcoming destination.”
Hayden Plemmons, Executive Director of the Asheville Downtown Association, added, “These events play a critical role in supporting the economic resiliency of Downtown businesses while offering magical experiences for our community and visitors alike.”
The Asheville Downtown Association and the City of Asheville encourage everyone to experience the magic of Downtown this winter—shop local, enjoy festive lights, and take part in the celebrations.
