On Display at the YMI: September 2025
Two Black women artists have prepared exhibitions that will take your breath away.
One leans into the boldness of mixed media, collage, and maximalist flair, while the other embraces the quiet strength of digital art—subdued, regal, and deeply resonant.
In the main gallery, Geraldine Settles presents “Crowned In Glory,” an exhibition that blends iconography with dignity, celebrating the majesty of Black womanhood.
In the YMI salons, Valeria Watson transforms collage, fabric, and mixed media into a vibrant exploration of Carnival, ancestral veneration, and the art of excess in her exhibition “Outside Woman.” Watson’s exhibit will be on display through October 4, 2025.
