Asheville Filmmakers Get Ready

The 48 Hour Film Project Asheville is back in full force for 2025!

Workshops, screenings, networking nights, and an intense 48-hour filmmaking challenge all kick off this month.

One of the region’s most exciting film competitions will officially take place August 8–10, but the excitement begins in June with a series of community-building events designed to connect and empower local storytellers.

From networking mixers and free workshops to director Q&As and screenings of past winners, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re an actor, writer, filmmaker, or just curious about cinema. “This project brings the community together through creativity and collaboration,” says City Producer Raúl Acosta. “And it’s open to everyone.”

How It Works

In just 48 hours, participants must write, shoot, and edit a short film. The completed films will premiere on the big screen in Asheville—and local winners will go on to Filmapalooza, with a shot at screening at the Cannes Short Film Corner.
