Stan Herd has installed a tribute to Maya Angelou, And Still—I Rise, in Atlanta’s Freedom Park.

Herd is well-known for his incredible crop art designs which have been featured in publications like National Geographic, among others. He’s been making these field-size works of art for more than 40 years.

He creates each design by using a weed whacker and foliage to achieve certain colors and textures.

Herd’s earthwork portrait of Angelou was begun at the end of November. The installation will remain visible for about two weeks.
