Set in Atlanta, Georgia, Breaking tells the story of a former Marine who calls attention to the plight of neglected military veterans.
When Marine Veteran Brian Brown-Easley (John Boyega) is denied support from Veteran’s Affairs, financially desperate and running out of options, he takes a bank and several of its employees hostage, setting the stage for a tense confrontation with the police.
The film co-stars Nicole Beharie (42), Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black), Connie Britton (The White Lotus), Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Olivia Washington (The Little Things), and Michael K. Williams (The Wire) in his final film role.
The movie is based on the true story of Brian Brown-Easley, a Marine veteran who was denied support from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The film was originally titled 892, the amount of money the VA owed the veteran. Breaking, directed by Abi Damaris Corbin Breaking, opens August 26, 2022.
