This year’s theme is Forest and Garden Enchantment.

Now in its ninth year, Winter Lights has become one of Asheville’s must-see holiday light shows, with more than one million lights across multiple displays.

This year’s theme, “Forest and Garden Enchantment,” includes several new attractions. The gnomes, so popular in 2021, will bring more of their friends to the open-air walk-through festival, and the unicorn, a crowd favorite, will be joined by another fabulous one-horned creature: the narwhal! Additionally, “Storytime at Woodland Cove” will feature even more animatronic animals to join the elk in reading holiday classics.

Favorites like the Happy Caterpillar and the 50-foot Tree of Light will return, and the lighted Quilt Garden will synchronize its display with a musical accompaniment.

Tickets to Winter Lights are per vehicle, with all passengers admitted for a single price. Tickets are available based on the date guests want to attend; Pink, Blue and Yellow tiers offer lower prices for off-peak dates. The Flex-ticket option allows guests to change the date of their visit as well. The Arboretum strongly recommends purchasing tickets in advance online, as nights at Winter Lights do sell out.

Winter Lights is held each evening November 18 through December 31. Tickets are on sale for specific entry times—6, 7, and 8:00 p.m.—but guests are welcome to stay until closing time at 10 p.m. With the Cocoa Shack and the Bent Creek Bistro serving refreshments, live music each night, and plenty of places to sit by the fire and enjoy the evening, you and your family and friends are sure to enjoy the 2022 Winter Lights.
