Juneteenth is the oldest commemoration of the “ending of slavery” in the United States.
Across centuries, Black people in the U.S. have fought for and built up Black joy, celebrating our resilience. Juneteenth is an opportunity to honor our ancestors and all of the gifts they have given us, and to dream of what is necessary for the future generations. We dedicate this day to Black joy. We find joy in our music, dance, art, laughter — but also in remembrance.
In honor of our ancestors, let’s get joyful!
