All of these blockbuster artists have relied on the incredible vocal talent of Lisa Fischer for years – counting on her astonishing range, her spot-on intonation, her mastery of the stage, and the way her tone wraps itself around your heart and won’t let go.
From her beginnings as a Marvellette, to decades of music-making with the likes of Tina Turner, Beyoncé, Dolly Parton, Bobby McFerrin, Lou Reed, and Aretha Franklin, to her film stardom in the 2013 Oscar- and Grammy-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom, Lisa Fischer’s remarkable voice has landed her countless roles on stage but out of the limelight, a spot she’s been happy to inhabit.
Now in the wake of Stardom’s critical and popular success, she’s on to a new leg of the journey, with a not-to-be-missed one-night tour stop in Asheville to open the Diana Wortham Theatre’s 2015/2016 Mainstage season.
