Redemption Blues

Glen David Andrews was born in the historic Tremé neighborhood in New Orleans, which many consider to be the oldest black community in the U.S.
The centerpiece of his new album, Redemption, is Surrender, a song Andrews wrote while in rehab. “I woke up from a nightmare in a cold sweat,” he recalls. “I realized that I had been given an opportunity to change my outlook on living.
“Every song tells a story that I hope people will relate to,” the singer, songwriter, and trombonist says proudly. “Redemption is about my journey back from the living dead.”
Glen David Andrews performs live, July 26, 2014 at The One Stop, 55 College St. in Asheville. 18+ show at 9 p.m. Tickets: $7 advance; $10 door. www.ashevillemusichall.com
