The Asheville Choral Society will perform a tribute to our men and women in uniform.

“Home and Heritage” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 and at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Lipinsky Hall on the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA) campus.

“I chose the theme of this as one that celebrates Asheville’s diversity and great history, as part of the rich tapestry of American life in the south,” said Artistic Director Melodie Galloway.

“Ideas of freedom, coming home, democracy, and human rights are woven into all the songs on the program. The beautiful music of Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Randall Thompson, and others will comprise a meaningful and lush concert performance featuring more than 150 singers with brass, percussion, and organ.” The concert will conclude by celebrating those in uniform with the choir and brass performing “A Salute to the Armed Forces.”

Tickets for “Home and Heritage” can be purchased on the Asheville Choral Society website at www.ashevillechoralsociety.org or by calling (828) 232-2060. The cost is $25 for adults, but students will be admitted for free.

  1. How would I get information on listening in on a rehearsal and auditioning for the Asheville Choral Society?
I am fairly new to the area and sang in a large Southern California Choir. Interested in the Choral Society.
