Staff Reports

Known for their off-the-wall live performances and dance-floor heroics, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band has become one of the country’s favorite up-and-coming touring acts, thanks in part to the buzz surrounding their sell-out shows and the success of their award-winning and critically acclaimed debut studio album, Now You Know (independent release).

This Asheville-based six-piece funk monster exerts an undeniable energy. Using funk as a foundation, the Booty Band weaves elements of hip-hop, reggae, ska, and latin soul into the mix, creating a musical entity that is entirely its own.

Comprised of musicians from all over the United States, the Booty
Band’s unpredictable stage show, constant reshuffling of instruments,
and crowd-rousing antics, have helped build the band a loyal following
and a strong name for itself, not only in the Southeast but all over the
country. In the past few years the Booty Band’s success has brought the
group headlining slots at many major festivals including Wakarusa, Jam
Cruise 6, Grassroots, Smilefest, and Long Beach Funk Fest, to name a
few.

Their second studio album, Doin’ It Hard, is a reflection of the band’s
approach to music, touring, performing, recording, and life in general.
Recorded in June 2010 at the City of Progress Studios in Miami, FL
under the cultivated ear of DJ Le Spam, “Doin’ It Hard” is the next
generation of Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, redefined for a new decade.

Doin’ It Hard is slated for a late fall 2011 release and will be
available on 12" vinyl, compact disc, and digital download. Today, the
Booty Band is ready to shake the world, one cheek at a time.

Saturday December 31, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, 8 p.m. at the
Asheville Music Hall, 31 Patton Avenue. For more details call (828)
