Scapegoat Theatre Collective Announces Grant Oppportunity
Scapegoat Theatre Collective announces the David Stewball Ackley Memorial Grant to fund a new, innovative theatre project in the Asheville community.
Scapegoat Theatre Collective has announced its formal dissolution, but it is hopeful that there are others equally passionate about producing community-driven theater work. A sum of $4,500 will be awarded to fund a new production or other outreach events in the city of Asheville.
Eligibility
• The project must involve live performance. While all performing arts disciplines are invited to apply, preference may be given to plays and other theatrical performance organizations. Any project funded by the grant must culminate in a live performance.
• The project must take place in Asheville, North Carolina.
• The majority of the organization staff and participating artists must be residents of Western North Carolina.
• The project must begin by April 1st, 2012. Preference will be given for organizations that intend to produce ongoing projects after the grant.
• The project must relate in some manner to the Scapegoat Theatre Collective mission.
Scapegoat Mission

We believe that theatre should be interactive, accessible to new audiences, and an effective mechanism for social action. We are committed to challenging ourselves – and our audience – with innovative, experimental theatre while acting as a collaborative force for change in the community. And merry making.
The grant application is available at www.scapegoattheatre.org or by emailing [email protected]. Grant application materials must be received no later than July 31, 2011.
