The Asheville Chamber Music Society will present the Miro Quartet at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville, 1 Edwin Place at Charlotte Street, on Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. The day before the concert, on March 24 at 4:15 p.m., Charles McKnight will host a pre-concert talk at the Reuter Center at UNCA. The program is free and open to the public.
The performance will include:
• Schubert: “Quartetsatz”
• Brahms: Quartet No. 1
• Philip Glass: Quartet No. 5
Founded in 1995 at the Oberlin Conservatory, the Miro is the
Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Texas School of Music, where
members also teach and coach chamber music groups.
The ensemble has won the Fischoff, Banff, and Coleman competitions, the
Naumburg Chamber Music Award, and the Cleveland Quartet Award. It was
the first chamber ensemble ever to be awarded the Avery Fisher Career
Grant.
Tickets to the Asheville concert are $35 at the door; students under age
25 are admitted free of charge (space permitting). To pre-order tickets
