A-B Tech Awarded Military Friendly Schools Title

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College has been listed as a Military Friendly School. The 2014 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top twenty percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.

A-B Tech has a coordinator of veteran’s services on campus to assist those students. “We want to ensure the process for veterans receiving their education benefits is as smooth as possible,” said Mary Albert, Coordinator of Veteran’s Services at A-B Tech. “I also work with a specialist at the Employment Security Commission who works with veterans to find them jobs upon graduation.”

Now in its fifth year, the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than ten thousand schools nationwide approved for VA tuition funding. Each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria, and weightings developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board consisting of educators from schools across the country.
