ABIPA is growing! We are pleased to serve the African-American
community as we educate, advocate and navigate to help close the health
disparity gap. We are so grateful to God for the good success we have
had. We also extend a huge thank you for all your support.

We are especially grateful to our PACE grant partners. They are:
Buncombe County Medical Society, Three Streams Community Health Center,
WRES Radio, NAACP and the YMI Cultural Center. I have been in place as
Executive Director for six months now and we have been busy. Please
note some of our successes since June 2008

•    We are case managing 29 people who have diabetes and
assisting them with managing their health through education, medication
assistance, and connection to community resources

•    We have offered “Know Your Numbers Screening” in collaboration with Mission Hospital FREE to over 70 people.

•    We have held a free pre-screening of 44 men for prostate cancer and had over 6 organizations to assist.

•    We have held monthly breast cancer support groups meetings and have over 15 survivors on our list.

•    We have conducted body and soul training at Hill Street
Baptist Church, Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Lord’s
Church.

•    We have hired 2 program coordinators and 3 nurse case mangers

•    Conducted educational session on diabetes, nutrition, and cancer to over 175 people

•    Increased the Board of Directors to 15 fully participating community members

•    Assisted PACE participants in going back to school and furthering their education

•    We acquired over $375,000 in grants for next 3 years to do
education, chronic disease management, and prevention health screenings
for cancer, diabetes, and heart disease

Look for ABIPA News monthly in the Urban News. We will be
listing program events, screenings, and education sessions that are
conducted throughout the community. We are here to make sure your
health needs are being met.

Our office is open from 9-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Appointments are encouraged. Please call (828) 673-8195 with your

can help you!” We pray that you would always “Be in Health and Prosper.”
