Brandi Hand, born and raised in New Orleans, survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Helene in 2024.

On the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Leoneda Inge, host of WUNC’s “Due South” program, spoke with Brandi Hand who survived not one, but two life-altering hurricanes.

Plus, Bev Perdue, former NC Governor, reflects on Hurricane Katrina and natural disaster preparedness. Perdue served as lieutenant governor during Hurricane Katrina.
