The Faces of Hope and Recovery

Sunrise’s staff of Certified Peer Support Specialists provide authentic, non-judgemental support.

Anxiety, trauma, and isolation are symptoms contributing to a massive rise in substance use, mental health challenges, and unintended overdose deaths.

Have you recently been released from jail? Are you struggling to pay child support? Do you want to learn about treatment options? Do you need Narcan, safe syringes, or harm reduction supplies?

Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness Peer Support Specialists
By participating with the Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness, life has opened up for John, Hightower, Daniel, Sue, Brittany, Natalie, Alex, Brandon, and Mike.

Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness is a nonprofit organization led and governed by those in the recovery community and their allies, offering education, peer support, and resource navigation at no cost. Their staff uses their lived experience with substance use and mental health challenges to help others discover and maintain a pathway to wellness.

Sunrise helps fill gaps in systems of care for some of the most vulnerable populations—the houseless, the recently incarcerated, and those experiencing mental wellness and substance use challenges. The center offers opportunities for individuals to discover their own journey to recovery through peer support, free services, resource connection with community partners, and a pathway to gainful employment as a Peer Support Specialist.

The staff at Sunrise are able to connect with participants in an authentic, evidence-based way that removes stigma, reduces isolation, and lowers instances of incarceration, hospitalization, and recidivism.

Walk-Ins are Welcome!

If you need a safe, judgement-free space, drop by just as you are. Individuals from all walks of life can get a cup of coffee and snacks, relieve loneliness, join a recovery support group, talk to a Certified Peer Support Specialist, get connected to community resources, attend trainings, or just chill with a community of peers.

Sunrise’s Drop-In Center, located at 46 Westgate Shopping Center in Asheville, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
