School Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
Donation will help fund the Robin’s Nest food pantry.
Evergreen Community Charter School has received $1,500 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed local neighbors in their time of need.
Evergreen will use the gift to further strengthen the school’s food pantry, Robin’s Nest.
“We are extremely grateful for the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation gift to Evergreen. This grant is vital to helping us achieve our goal of meeting the nutritional needs of all our students in an equitable manner in order to eliminate hunger as a source of distraction from learning,” said Nutrition Director Sarah Shah.
Evergreen’s vision focuses on the holistic education of the mind, body, and spirit of each child. Robin’s Nest food pantry serves the community both inside and outside the classroom, and it brings Evergreen’s vision to fruition by providing the Evergreen community with nutritional food. The Robin’s Nest food pantry has existed for the school community for many years and has partnered with MANNA Food Bank since 2019.
The main goal of Robin’s Nest is to ensure that no student or family, regardless of reason, goes without living essentials. Robin’s Nest relies on parent/guardian volunteers and community donations. Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation’s donation will nourish Robin’s Nest food pantry and bolster Evergreen’s efforts in providing supplies for the Evergreen Community.
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food-insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $17 million in grants.
